SHAKEOLOGY SHIPMENT #2

Alright, my 2nd shipment of Shakeology has arrived. When you sign up for a home direct shipment you not only get free shipping, you get a gift the first 2 months. The first month was the Workout videos (see previous blog) and this month is the shaker cup. Now, if I am on the go I can prepare my Shakeology in my new shaker.

Here is what you get in your second month shipment.
Again, it comes in a nice size box.

Open the box and inside are all the goodies!!
You get your very own shaker cup...
And another 30 day supply of Shakeology!
My shipments rotate each month, so this month is green berry. Looking forward to trying some of the recipes below on the 30 day calendar.
The other side of the calendar still has the chocolate recipes, in case you have any left over from the previous month and you wanna mix it up!
Well, that is it! I already had my shake for the day (Chocolate Shakeology, 1 serving of tofu, ice, almond milk, banana, and 1 tsp of peanut butter). This is by far my most favorite meal of the day!!

Insanity- Month 2, Dig Deeper

I have been in the process of completing the original INSANITY workouts with Shawn T. The first month was pretty intense, but I was proud to say that for the most part I kept up. After four weeks of one workout a day for six days a week, there was a week recovery. (Still intense, but except for the hip workouts, they were manageable).

Every two weeks you complete a "fit test." It is comprised of 8 different moves and your goal is to do as many of each move in one minute. You get about a minute rest in between each exercise. The first two fitness test are the only activity for that day. (Example.... DAY 1- Complete fit test, day 2 Plyometric Cardio Circuit, etc).

The first day of week five (that was Sunday for me) you must complete your third fitness test AND a 59 minute Max Interval Circuit. I am pretty sure it was the hardest workout I've ever done (except maybe running a 4 hour marathon, and the repeat 200's we did 20 times in college for track season with a minute rest... that workout STILL gives me nightmares!)Whoever thought doing a fitness test AND a workout on the same day was a good idea for this exercise program was just plain crazy!

All that to say I am glad to have my recovery drink, I've had to use it during the workout the last two days to keep going. However, something inside keeps you motivated NOT to stop because you KNOW you will get the results you want if you keep going. Here are my fit test numbers so far (Day 1, Day Day 15, Day 36):

Switch Kicks (2 kicks = 1):  42, 60, 68
Power Jacks: 47, 57, 61
Power Knees: 80, 125, 130
Power Jumps: 30, 55, 64
Globe Jump (4 jumps = 1): 6, 11, 13
Suicide Jumps: 17, 20, 22
Push up Jacks: 26, 31, 36
Low plank obliques: 55, 65, 72

I have a little over 3 weeks to go. I didn't really take a before photo... but here is a picture of what I look like after the workouts.

Like Shawn T says, DIG DEEPER! Well making sure I don't slip in my sweat is what I call digging deeper.
Keep Soaring!!

A yummy low cal- high protien lunch

OK- I am trying to get really serious about the foods I put in my mouth. I have six different nutrition books (provided by beach body from 6 different workout programs) to spice up my meals. Today as I was looking through the lunches I found one I sorta copied, but changed a little bit.

Chicken Wrap- most of recipe is from the Brazil Butt Lift Menu

 Ingredients:
-3oz of  boneless skinless chicken breast 100 calories
-1tsp lemon juice zero calories
-1 leaf of cabbage chopped about 8 calories
-1 string cheese 80 calories
-1 tbsp pesto hummus 25 calories
-1 tortilla, I recommend whole wheat tortillas, but I don't have any at the moment about 80 calories

293 calories, loaded with protein and not so many carbs (sorry, I don't count that as much because I still have to work out with the FIT CLUB tonight at Sun Ridge Community Church in Temecula!

Directions:
1. Cook chicken on stove in Pam cooking spray and lemon juice until lightly browned.
2. Heat tortilla if desired.
3. Place pesto on tortilla, and string cheese in middle.
4. Cover with cooked chicken.
5. Lay chopped cabbage over the top and fold.

Yummy!!

Shakeology

Alright, my first month of Shakeology arrived in the mail on April 25th... I have taken pictures of each item that you receive in the box so you know what you are getting. It comes in a box that looks like the one below.
You get a month shipment of the product... chocolate or green berry. I have my home direct shipment set up to rotate flavors each month. My first flavor is chocolate... yummy.
The next additional item is a calendar looking page with 2 sides. The first side has a new recipe for your shake to try each day for chocolate...
and the other side is for the green berry flavor for each day of the month. I have decided to take notes on each of the ones and try including if I like it or not, and how many calories it equals.
The next item in the box are the Shakeology workouts. This is what the front cover looks like.
The back has some cool pictures of people that have lost weight and inches (and improved their cholesterol- increasing the good and lowering the bad). And links to get additional workouts and supplements on the website.
This is the inside of the workout case. It has 2 videos; a 30 minute video and a 50 minute video. As of today I have watched the 30 minute video (I am on day 10 of insanity, so I may do them in the afternoon if I have time). They seem very basic, but challenging. They require weights or resistance bands for the complete workout. Very cheap at a sporting good store or your local Target or Walmart.
I am going to track my own progress with Shakeology on my blog... you are welcome to read, obviously. :-)
Finally there is an info card from the CEO of Shakeology and his story with the product. He (at least in his before photo on a video I have) seems pretty healthy looking but is pretty ripped now... his wife uses the product as well. Even if you already consider yourself pretty healthy it is a good idea to use the product. One hundred doctors (and more I would assume) would agree... CLICK HERE to see what I mean.

Here is a picture of me and my product. :-) Yay!
Alright, here are my  current numbers... (4-25-2011)
Weight: 139 pounds
Waist measurement at belly button: 33 inches
Total Cholesterol (according to San Diego Blood Bank): 128 as of 2/11/11- unfortunately it doesn't tell me how much the LDL and HDL levels are, just total. (down from 143 in August 2010)
Blood Pressure (according to San Diego Blood Bank): 99/61 as of 2/11/11 (Down from 119/75 in August 2010)

Day One- April 25th, 2011
I took it plain with water, just to see what it tasted like. It is pretty thick, and really good.
Day Two- April 26th, 2011
I had it with cinnamon and nutmeg after my workout. Real thick, I will split it up tomorrow. Drank it after my recovery Insanity workout.
Day Three- April 27th, 2011
I had half of my shake before my workout with almond milk and a tsp of honey (50% more calcium than NF milk, and 30 less calories per serving, and dang it tastes good. But, it is a little more expensive, so we'll see how often I use it.) The second half I had after my workout with 1 cup of water, about 4 frozen strawberries and half a cup of blueberries. Woah, it was good! (I put it in the blender)

Well, that is where I am so far... not sure if I will put EVERY day's drink on here, but if they are all that good, I might have to!

My Beach Body Story...

I began my journey with Beach Body in the summer of 2010. (No that is not me in the picture above, it is Dreya Webber and Tony Horton :-P)

We borrowed the P90X workout program from a friend to check it out (Thanks Marty). I thought I was already fit; I like to run, I worked out pretty consistently, I thought that was it. I figured P90X would just help me stay there.

Since completing the videos I have noticed in pictures that my arms and my face were slimming down and I had more energy. Not to mention that I was able to do more push ups than most of the kids on my cross country team. :-)

We finished our 90 day challenge and decided to purchase the DVDs, (yes, I'm cheap- I wanted to make sure they worked before buying them). When you buy a Beach Body program it is just that, a program. It has all the steps you need to meet your goal... guaranteed. It has workout videos, timeline goals, nutrition plans, online help and accountability. All you have to do to start, is put it in you DVD player and push play.

We are going to go through P90X again this summer. Colin is going to host a weekday P90X workout at school with his soccer athletes.

Currently I am in the middle of the INSANITY program. I like to mix up my workouts constantly. (That way I don't get bored). And being the cheapo that I am, I borrowed it from a Beach Body Coach.

I really like it and I can see a difference in my cardiovascular endurance. It was hard at first to get through it without being exhausted, but now I can get through each round without dying, but still sweating! And it's pretty fun. I am almost half way done.

When I started the program, Cecilia (my Beach Body Coach) gave me a sample of Shakeology. She suggested I started using this to help improve my health while completing the workouts. I have to admit that Shakeology has really helped. I was a little skeptical at first, but I ordered it. I figured that since there was a 30 day money back guarantee, that if it doesn't work I'll just get my money back. But, it tastes good and gives me all the nutrients I need every day. I signed up to be a Beach body coach too, that way I get 25% off all the products and supplements.

I got sick on Friday evening with the usual congestion, snot nose etc and usually it takes about a week to recover. Monday morning I drank my shake (like I have each day), and was able to workout. I am still getting rid of the snot (ha ha) but I FEEL much better. That is not normal for me.

Since starting my journey, Colin has joined me. He ordered Shakeology too and drinks it for breakfast before heading out the door. I like the chocolate flavor and he likes the Green Berry. We each get 25% off all the products from Beach body. Including free shipping on our orders. :-)
Any way, after 15 days of using Shakeology here are the latest stats:

Current Weight: 135 (FYI my goal isn't really focused on losing weight, but it has gone down 4 pounds)
Waistline measurement: 31 1/2 inches (down from 33 inches!)

If you would like to know more about Shakeology or any Beach Body products please feel free to contact me! Thanks for following along on my journey...

OH-I am donating blood next Monday and will update the cholesterol information when I get the results. :-)

Time to Soar

So what's with the, "Time to Soar," stuff?? If you haven't noticed it is my username for my beach body profile page and website links. There is a little story behind it.

If you are familiar at all with my family, my son LOVES Veggie Tales. He has quite a library. There is one story in particular called, "A Snoodles Tale." It tells the story (in Dr. Seuss rhyming fashion) of a Snoodle, how it is created and then follows a small Snoodle as he tries to figure out what he is made for. He is given a pack with wings, paints and music. As he attempts to try out each of the things in his pack the other Snoodles put him down, they draw pictures of his failures and place them in his back pack and they do not encourage him at all. It is really sad. The small Snoodle decides it would be better if he wasn't around any Snoodles at all and heads out of town. He finally decides that climbing Mount Ginches may be a good idea and he meets someone at the top. This video is the second half of the story (just a few minutes long).

I pretty much cry every time Kellen wants to watch this. Mainly because of the encouragement that the man (God) is giving him. God made us and knows what we are capable of. When we listen to what the world says, we are held back from all we can do. That is why I started using and promoting the Beach Body products, because they want to help people and they believe that you CAN achieve good health and live for a purpose.

The Beginning

First post... what to write about. Well, I decided to make a blog for my fitness followers that will pretty much have any and all information about fitness that I can share with ya'll. It will include things like my Shakeology journey, any fitness workouts I am trying and events I may be a part of with Team Beach Body.

I figured that would be better than bombarding my poor family blog with all of my crazy fitness stuff. I am not sure if anyone will read this, but hopefully it will inspire people to take care of their bodies and take control of your fitness and eating habits. I will NEVER claim to have all the answers, but I will share with you what has worked for me, and what has worked for others to help keep you motivated to get fit, stay fit and live life full of energy to serve, and take care of yourself, your family and anyone else you may want to motivate!

Happy Reading!
